FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Beardslee Court Services becomesBeardslee Grant Writing ServiceBENTON, MO - January 1, 2007 - In a effort to re-focus company goals and objectives in the light of changing circumstances, BEARDSLEE COURT SERVICES has become BEARDSLEE GRANT WRITING SERVICE, divesting itself of all bonding, investigative and civil process missions. According to Thomas Beardslee, owner of BEARDSLEE GRANT WRITING SERVICE, to continue to provide these services, while employed as a deputy sheriff, could give the appearance of conflict of interest, and even the appearance of such a conflict is not worth continuing in this type of business. BEARDSLEE COURT SERVICES has remained dormant since Beardslee returned to public service January 1, 2005. "I didn't want to kill the business altogether," Beardslee said, "Because someday I will retire from the Sheriff's Department, and I like working for myself." The restructuring of BEARDSLEE COURT SERVICES into BEARDSLEE GRANT WRITING SERVICE, also required some disposition with regard to the training component, which was quit successful, since the passage of Missouri's Concealed Carry legislation in 2003. In addition, BCS also provided public service training in areas of C.E.R.T. (Civilian Emergency Response Teams) and Missouri Hunter Education. BCS also offered several self defense courses and firearms safety training. "This training component was really a public benefit, and I didn't want to eliminate it altogether," Beardslee said, "The courses we offer include Concealed Carry Firearms Safety Training (approved for obtaining a concealed carry endorsement in Missouri) and CERT (Civilian Emergency Response Team) training for SEMA." BEARDSLEE GRANT WRITING SERVICE offers grant writing and capacity building services to individuals, businesses, 501(c)(3) and tax supported entities. Our mission is to assist these entities in supplementing their funding and financial base through the timely location of, and application for grants and other funding sources. We do this through assisting with RFP and RFA tracking and monitoring; Grant Research and Proposal Writing; and Consulting on Strategic Planning for the enthusiastic, but under funded entity. "I was involved in several grant programs when I was Training Coordinator for the Law Enforcement Academy at Southeast Missouri State University, and since returning to the sheriff's department I have attended several grant writing seminars and training programs at my own expense. I have learned a lot during these courses, and have been able to turn some of this knowledge into successful grants and acquisitions of property for the sheriff's department. Each time I write a grant for the department, I learn more about grant writing in general, making me better able to assist others with their grant needs," Beardslee said. According to Beardslee, "Grant writing is one of those skills that leaves you if you are not actively involved in the process on a regular basis. I am looking for grants and equipment for the department on a daily basis, keeping me in the loop for what is available generally. It takes this kind of daily, active involvement for a grant writer to be successful. Business and volunteer entities, like non-profits, do not normally have that kind of time to research the rich and abundant pool of resources available out there." "BEARDSLEE GRANT WRITING SERVICE may be reached most effectively by e-mail to GrantWriter2007@ aol.com. Anyone with a need for supplemental funding for their nonprofit organization, public or private service organization or agency, is encouraged to contact us for a free consultation to see if we can help," Beardslee said.
